Fire Department

nelsonfiresigncenter2The Nelson Fire Department is an all volunteer organization comprised of a dozen or so dedicated members of the community. Fortunately, the department is not very busy, and most of their calls are rescue calls for medical situations. When large emergencies do arise, the department can draw on support from other departments in the Southwestern New Hampshire District Mutual Aid (which is comprised of over 100 towns). Nelson volunteers in turn pitch in to help other towns as needed.

There are two fire stations in Nelson: Center Station, on Old Stoddard Road in the complex that also houses the highway and police departments, and in Munsonville, just a little west of the center.

The members of the fire department meet on the first Thursday of every month. If you are interested in joining the department, please contact Fire Chief Joseph Sarcione at firefighter.station3@yahoo.com.
